Get to know about Gaumukh Tapovan

Gaumukh holds a very special place in the Hindu mythology, as the place is said to be in the shape of a cow and the holy river Ganga originates from here. Located in Uttarakhand, it is part of Uttarkashi’s Garhwal region at an elevation of approximately 13,000 ft from the sea level.

A few kilometers from Gaumukh is an alpine meadow called Tapovan. There is intense spiritual intensity throughout the entire area. The Gaumukh Tapovan trail has spiritual resonances that cannot be denied. The views of the mountains are the highlight of the Tapovan. You can see the splendid Mt. Shivling standing tall in front of you.

You will cross multiple streams of water along the journey because the Gangotri Gaumukh glacier is the main attraction of the Gaumukh Tapovan Trek. Catch the rarest peak views of Mt. Shivling and the Bhagirathi sisters, the most amazing thing you will discover on this journey..

What is the best time to visit-

The ideal time to go on the Gaumukh Tapovan Trek is May- June and September- October. Avoid visiting the place in the rainy months such as during July and August.

How to reach-

The Gaumukh Tapovan Trek begins from Dehradun as the pickup location. Dehradun is easily accessible by bus, train, and air. The closest airport to Dehradun is Jolly Grant Airport. Many important trains have stoppages at the Dehradun station if you want to travel by train. If you live nearby, using the bus is another convenient way to travel to Dehradun.

Our team will pick you up in Dehradun and we will proceed towards Gangotri, further to Chirbasa, moving forward to Bhojbasa. From Bhojbasa, we will take a steep walk to Gaumukh, and back to Bhojbasa to reach the majestic Tapovan.

Level of difficulty –Moderate to Difficult

Gaumukh Tapovan Trekking is a gradual uphill climb, but if you are physically sound and determined to go on the trek, you can do it without a doubt. The mountains might make it a little difficult with all the steep climbing and raw terrains. But at the end you will enjoy the whole journey with all the scenic views gushing into your soul.

Fitness tips before the trek-

Before beginning the Gaumukh Tapovan Trek, make sure you have good health. Fitness becomes essential when you go on a mountainous trek as the oxygen levels fall and it becomes difficult to catch your breath at times.

How to stay fit-
● Start running every day within a set amount of time.
● Be consistent with your fitness regime.
● Cardio is helpful before the trek.
● Adopt a balanced diet.[/expander_maker]
