About Ronti Saddle Trek
It is one of the sierra points of Garhwal Himalayas that lies in between the crest of two gigantic ranges, Nanda Ghunti, and Mt. Trisul in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. This ridge is also classified as a 164th highest place of a lot. This long jagged chain of Himalayas comprises Nanda Devi(7800m)- highest of its kind followed by Nanda Ghunti (6272m), Mt. Trisul(7120m), and Mt. Bethartoli(6400m) veiled in the blanket of glaciers.

How to reach?

Our attendant and all tents are fully facilitated with first-aid kit. Trekkers are suggested carry their own pills for Nausea, Vomiting, Headache, Stomach related issue or AMS.
Vegetarian repast including eggs in the morning vitalize the body during trek.
Trekking essentials will be provided like Micro spikes for shoes and Gaiters for trekking in the snow, even many more are there in the list. You have carry few things like gears, sticks for own convenience.
It is advisory to take help from local or package guide as they are knowledge carriers of the place. Travel with familiar peoples are always helpful.
Carry lightweight trek bags with proper amounts of clothes according to the season but for night, have to be filled with winter-proof. Clothes that are carrying must be waterproof.
Day 2: Lohajung-Didina village;8-9 kms.
Day 3: Didina village-Ali Bugyal;10-12kms.
Day 4: Ali Bugyal-Baghupasa;12-13kms.
Day 5: Baghupasa-Sheela samudra;11-12kms.
Day 6: Trek to Ronti Saddle descent to Dodang, 4-5 hrs.
Day 7: Homkund-Ronti Saddle-Homkund.
Day 8: Homkund-Sheela Samudra.
Day 9: Sheela Samudra-Baghupasa.
Day 10: Baghupasa-Ghairoli Patel; 8kms.
Day 11: Ghairoli Patel-Lohajung;7-8kms.
Day 12: Lohajung-Dehradun.
Day 1: Dehradun-Lohajung;300kms.
The trip started from Dehradun with a rising sun and a hot cup of refreshment tonic at 05:30 headed towards the Lohajung a place known as launching and closing point all the trekking in Uttarakhand. It takes around 8-9 hrs more or less depending on your acceleration.
Finally, before the first minute of twilight, we reached there and had an opportunity to witness the blue converted into Mocktail colors of sunset. Lohajung is a small residential area situated at a height of 2330m in Chamoli district with so many ancient fables. In summer the temperature is up to 16-24°c (day) and 9-1°c (night) whereas in winter it is around 14-22°c (day) and descends up to minus in night. Except Monsoon this place always welcome you with furnished accommodations like lavish room for resting, ATM for transactions and restaurant for appetite.
Haridwar and Kathgodam are nearby railway station and Pantnagar airport closely to it around 250km can take your 8-9hrs.
Day 2: Lohajung - Didina village; 8-9 kms.
A new day always bring new hopes, opportunities to explore differently than usual in vacation. Day was planned to ascent the trek to Didina Village. We commenced it with another sun rise at Lohajung at 5am. Total distance is about 8-9 km may take 5-6 hrs. We walked through the forest and landed in front of Neel Ganga. To continue the trek, have to cross the river by balancing over a tapered as well as meagre logs acting like bridge.
To avoid that , many trekkers take distant route to Ronti Saddle via Wan Village.
Through that spellbinding bridge we reached at Didina Village lies at a 2450m height, comprising of 50- 60 hamlets. In between, there is scope for getting place for camping.
Day 3: Didina village - Ali Bugyal; 10-12kms.
After some rest in Didina Village we move ahead towards the direction of Ali Bugyal. “Words from researchers, that it can strike pose differently with changing season.” The distance is all about 10-12km takes about 6-7 hrs to climb up 3400m. This grassland lies amid of Mt.Trisul, Mt.Nanda Ghunti on it’s right ahead and Mt.Chaukhamba, Neel Kantha, Hati Ghoda on it’s left.

Day 4: Ali Bugyal - Baghupasa; 12-13kms.

So with spirit we focus to walked at 7am in the direction of Baghupasa by covering distance of 12-13km take 6-7.5hrs. At 2pm we reached and set our camps.
Day 5: Baghupasa-Sheela samudra; 11-12kms.
Having a quality sleep , we waked up early, gathered our belonging and hiked up to Sheela Samudra by crossing Roopkund- mysterious glaciated lake with a buried secret of all those skeletons around and inside it. Taking a Pass named Jaunairgali at 5150m, takes around 8-9 hrs due to its rigid topography. Your trek bags must be well equipped .
As we reached the top, the ambiance roared its significance- “the sea of rocks”. In winter, this land is fully covered with snow whereas in summer, melted snow gives birth to velvety grass apt for halting to set camps.
Day 6: Sheela samudra - Homkund; 17-18kms.
After a satisfying night, our eyes were opened at 6 with a mesmerizing sunrise add a distinct level of beauty. We moved ahead to Homkund walked beside the Nanakini river, reached there at an elevation of 4484m above the sea level and grab the chance to spend the night with thrill via Dodang ( it is about 8km from Sheela Samudra is a decent place for resting at night. Trek plans can be altered according to convenience)
Trekkers can approach through Suto Village – Lata Khopri- Chandaniya Ghat.
Day 7: Homkund - Ronti Saddle - Homkund.
With the past thrilling delectation, soul get energize to have more action- packed records of Ronti Saddle is about 10km from Homkund and nearly takes 5-6 hrs more or less depends upon the pace.
To cover that distance we started at 5 and reached there around 10:45- 11am. At Ronti Saddle you perceived the glimpse of Mt. Nanda Ghunti, Mt. Bethartoli and the peaks of Mt. Trisul I, II, III standing in front of you, will surely fill your heart with an emotion of accomplishment. The sophisticated beauty are worth product of your lens as well as for the reminiscence. After occupying all the exquisite thrilling memories we descend back to Homkund.
Day 8: Homkund - Sheela Samudra.
In the morning, we started to stuff our trekking bags with all the necessities and loads of memories walking down to Sheela Samudra for taking rest.
Day 9: Sheela Samudra-Baghupasa.
Well-rested bodies are ready to trek down to another photogenic camping site at Baghupasa. We started sharp at 9 from sheela samudra and reached there at around 3:30-4pm and slept inside our hamlet in tranquility.
Day 10: Baghupasa - Ghairoli Patel; 8kms.
We perambulate back to Ghairoli Patel through Bedni Bugyal(believed to have religious importance) takes around 6-7 hrs to cover up the distance of 8km. This meadow is ideal for campfire.
Day 11: Ghairoli Patel - Lohajung; 7-8kms.
We finished our journey to Lohajung via Wan Village walked back through the trek route surrounded by Oak and Rhododendron forest nearly takes 5-6hrs to cover up the distance.
Day 12: Lohajung - Dehradun.
With a note of indebtedness, we traveled back to Dehradun to catch our means of transport.
